Three political parties are set to participate in the upcoming elections using the ‘Janto’ election symbol of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal. The Janata Samajwadi Party led by Ashok Rai and the Rashtriya Mukti Party Nepal led by Rajendra Mahato have registered with the Election Commission to contest the polls under this single symbol.
Naupa Nepal’s patron Resham Chaudhary, JSP’s Ashok Rai, and RMP Nepal’s Rajendra Mahato arrived at the Election Commission on Wednesday to formally register their parties for participation under the joint election symbol.
According to the Election Commission, the three parties have been recognized under Article 271 of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 49 of the Political Parties Act, 2073, allowing them to contest the election with a unified symbol.
Earlier, the three parties had agreed to fight the election under the same symbol. Leaders have stated that other parties with similar ideology and principles may also join the alliance.
