Three schoolgirls were injured after being hit by a motorcycle at Hattisude Bazaar in Ward-3 of Bakaiya Rural Municipality, located in the eastern part of Makwanpur.
The accident occurred along the Dharan–Chatara road section on Monday when a motorcycle (Ba 70 Pa 6711), traveling from Phaparbari toward Hattisude, struck students who were walking to school.
The injured have been identified as 13-year-old Isha Rai and 14-year-old Diksha Rai, both residents of Hattisude, Ward-3 of Bakaiya Rural Municipality, and 14-year-old Jamuna Dahal from Ward-8, Damas.
According to police, Isha Rai sustained serious injuries to her head and leg and is in critical condition. Diksha Rai suffered injuries to her leg and right waist, while Jamuna Dahal sustained injuries below her left eye and on her left leg.
All three injured have been taken to Hetauda for treatment.
According to Bagmati Province Police Office spokesperson Nanti Raj Gurung, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Krishna Kumar Lama from Hattisude Police Post was deployed to the incident site.
The motorcycle involved in the accident has been taken into police custody. The rider, 23-year-old Arjun Bholan of Jaljale, Ward-3 of Bakaiya Rural Municipality, was also injured and is currently undergoing treatment, police said.
