According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Nepal is currently experiencing the partial influence of westerly winds, a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, and a low-pressure system near the eastern region of the country.
At present, skies are generally cloudy in the Himalayan regions of Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province, while the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy conditions. Light rainfall is currently occurring at a few places in the hilly areas of Koshi Province.
During the day, skies will remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Province, as well as in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, with partly cloudy weather elsewhere. There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, and light snowfall in higher altitudes, at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Similar weather conditions are also expected at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as isolated places in the Terai region of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, skies will remain generally cloudy across the hilly regions, especially in Koshi Province, while partly cloudy conditions will prevail elsewhere. There is a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning at some places in Koshi Province and a few locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Isolated places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces may also experience light rain or snowfall.
