According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country is currently experiencing the partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system, a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, and a low-pressure area near the eastern region.
The Weather Forecasting Division stated that during the day, skies will be generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions, especially in Koshi Province, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.
There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, as well as light snowfall in higher elevations, at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province. Similar conditions may occur at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province, as well as in the hilly regions of Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province. Light rain with thunder and lightning may also occur at one or two places in the Terai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
At night, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy weather. A few places in these regions may again witness light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The department has also urged the public, travelers, and transport operators to remain cautious, especially in areas where rain and snowfall have been forecast.
