The Tilakotsav ceremony, celebrated as part of the week-long Bibaha Panchami Mahotsav, was successfully completed on Sunday in Janakpurdham. The ritual took place in the courtyard of the Ram Temple, where Small Mahant of Janaki Temple Ram Roshan Das and Mahant of Ram Temple Ram Giri performed the traditional samdhi-milan (meeting of in-laws).
For the Tilakotsav, a ceremonial procession (Bhaar) departed from Janaki Temple, led by Mahant Ram Roshan Das and a Vaishnav delegation. Hundreds of devotees, including guests carrying fruits, sweets, and other traditional offerings, joined the procession and reached the Ram Temple to participate in the ceremony.
As per Mithila tradition, both sides exchanged friendly musical banter and playful teasing during the event, creating a festive and cultural atmosphere.
According to the festival schedule:
- Today (Fourth Day): Tilakotsav completed
- Tomorrow (Fifth Day): Mata Sita’s Matkor ritual
- Tuesday: Swayambar and Bibaha Mahotsav (main wedding ceremony)
- Wednesday (Final Day): Ramkalewa and farewell of the Barat (wedding procession from Ayodhya), marking the conclusion of the Mahotsav
