Traffic has resumed along the Muglin–Abukhaireni section of the Prithvi Highway after vehicles were halted for several hours. Both-way movement of vehicles, which had been stopped since last night, restarted this morning.
The road had been closed after a section at Sakhar area started to cave in. Authorities halted traffic to conduct technical inspection and preventive measures.
According to the District Traffic Police Office, Tanahun, vehicles began moving again at around 3 AM today. The road closure was enforced to allow experts to carry out an SRT (Seismic Resistivity Test) to assess the condition of the road and surrounding land stability.
Although vehicle movement has been allowed, technicians have said that testing and repair work will continue.
The road at Sakhar in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4, located near the dumping site of the Muglin–Abukhaireni section, had subsided, causing one-way traffic earlier. The issue created heavy traffic congestion, affecting the Muglin–Narayangadh road section as well. Passengers faced long delays and inconvenience due to prolonged traffic jams.
