Traffic has been suspended indefinitely on the BP Highway since Tuesday evening.
According to the District Police Office Kavrepalanchok, the decision was taken from 7:00 PM after continuous heavy rainfall in the Bhakunde–Nepalthok section caused the water level in the Roshi River to rise, increasing the risk of flooding along the highway.
Police spokesperson DSP Rabin Bista said that persistent heavy rain in southern areas of the district, including Panauti, Namo Buddha, Katunje, Mangaltar, and Kavrebhanjyang has raised concerns that potential flooding from the Roshi River could pose serious danger to vehicles using the route.
Vehicles are currently being held at entry points at Dhulikhel (Kavrebhanjyang section) and Nepalthok. Traffic management is being coordinated in consultation with Sindhuli District authorities.
