A heartbreaking incident has occurred in Myal, Malika Rural Municipality–3 of Gulmi district. A domestic dispute turned violent when a son killed his own father and severely injured his mother.
According to police reports, 23-year-old Bhot Bahadur Bik fatally attacked his 50-year-old father Dhan Bahadur Bik with a sharp weapon (sickle) and a wooden stick on Friday evening. He also attacked his 48-year-old mother Dilmaya Bik, leaving her critically injured.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ganga Bahadur Saru of Gulmi District Police Office stated that the injured mother was initially taken to Gulmi District Hospital, Tamghas, but due to her critical condition, she was later referred to the Provincial Hospital in Butwal for further treatment.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Man Bahadur Gharti from Arkhawang Police Post reached the scene. Another team under the command of Inspector Rebant Sen from the Area Police Office, Purkotdaha, was also deployed for further investigation.
Police have taken the attacker, Bhot Bahadur Bik, into custody. Preliminary investigations suggest that he may be suffering from mental health issues.
The body of the deceased, Dhan Bahadur Bik, has been sent to Gulmi District Hospital, Tamghas, for postmortem examination. Gulmi District Police Office has informed that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The tragic event has left the entire Myal village in deep sorrow and shock.
