Two people have died after a bus carrying students for a picnic hit a motorcycle in Malika Rural Municipality of Gulmi district.
The accident occurred when a bus bearing registration number Lumbini Province 00 Kha 0355 collided with a motorcycle (Lu 9 Pa 8150) on a downhill stretch at Arje Ramche, Malika–7, according to Ward Chairperson Rekha Kumar GC. Those killed in the incident have been identified as 36-year-old Basanta Aryal and 60-year-old Mankala Aryal of Malika–6.
Two others were injured in the accident. They are five-year-old Anubhav Giri, who was riding on the motorcycle, and Lila Aryal, a local schoolteacher of Malika–6 who was a pedestrian at the time. Both are currently receiving treatment at a local health facility.
The bus was transporting students of Siddha English Boarding School for a picnic when it collided with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
According to relatives, Mankala Aryal had left home early in the morning on the motorcycle to pick up her grandson while going for her daughter’s medical treatment.
Police said the cause of the accident has not yet been determined and further investigation is ongoing. The bus has been taken under police control.
