Two people were killed today in a collision between a scooter and a bus at Panipiya Forest along the Itahari–Dharan road section in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–20, Sunsari.
According to police, a bus (Province 1–02–002 Kha 0455) traveling from Itahari towards Dharan collided head-on with a scooter (Ko 22 Pa 2125) coming from the opposite direction. The scooter rider, Sujan Bik, and pillion rider, Suraj Bik, both from Birtamod Municipality–5, Jhapa, sustained critical injuries.
They were rushed to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, but both died during treatment at around 12:30 PM, informed Sunsari District Police Office spokesperson Yograj Khatri.
Police have taken the bus driver, Prem Magar of Belka Municipality–3, Udayapur, into custody, and further investigation is underway.
