Under the ongoing SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship football tournament being held at the Pokhara International Football Stadium, two league-stage matches are scheduled for today (Monday). The first match will be played between Bangladesh and India at 12:00 noon, while the host nation Nepal will face Bhutan at 3:00 PM.
Both Nepal and Bhutan had suffered defeats in their opening matches. Nepal were narrowly beaten 1–0 by India, while Bhutan were thrashed 12–0 by Bangladesh in the tournament’s opening match. As a result, both teams will be under pressure in today’s encounter, making the match crucial for keeping their hopes of reaching the final alive.
Bangladesh and India, meanwhile, have each secured one win and are level on three points apiece. Only four teams are participating in the tournament this year, which is being organized by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) in coordination with the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
The competition is being played under a round-robin league format, where each team faces the others once. Following the league stage, the top two teams will compete for the title in the final scheduled for Magh 24, according to SAFF General Secretary Purushottam Kattel.
