
Two children who had gone missing from Yangwarak Rural Municipality-1, Chyangthapu in Panchthar have been found dead in the local Biruwa River.
According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the bodies of 9-year-old Shishir Rai and 6-year-old Naanuma Rai, children of local Birkha Rai, were discovered in the river on Tuesday morning.
The children had gone missing on Friday morning (Shrawan 15). Since then, their family, local residents, police, ward office, and elected representatives had been actively searching the nearby forest, riverbanks, and surrounding areas.
Ward Chairperson of Yangwarak-1, Rajendra Khaling Rai, confirmed that the bodies were found in the Biruwa River, which flows between the borders of former Chyangthapu-1 and 8.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki informed that preparations are underway to bring the bodies to the district hospital for postmortem after documenting the scene. He also mentioned that the investigation into the incident has already been initiated.
