Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is currently in custody on charges related to cooperative fraud and organized crime, has two separate court hearings scheduled for Thursday. Former Gorkha Media operator Chhavilal Joshi, also detained under similar charges, has a hearing scheduled today as well.
Lamichhane’s hearings are set for the same day in two different courts: the Butwal bench of the High Court Tulsipur and the Patan High Court.
A petition filed at the Butwal bench seeks his release on bail equivalent to the disputed amount, allowing him to stay outside custody. Meanwhile, the Patan High Court has scheduled a hearing on Petition No. 73 regarding the Kathmandu District Court’s earlier order in the Swornalakshmi Cooperative case against him.
With both hearings scheduled on the same day in Kathmandu and Butwal, legal advisors are discussing how Lamichhane’s legal defense team can manage participation in both courts.
Similarly, in Joshi’s case, the High Court Tulsipur Butwal had recently ordered the retrieval of the main case file. As the file has now arrived, his hearing has also been scheduled for today.
