Two vehicles were set ablaze in separate incidents in Kathmandu’s Maharajgunj and Naikap areas.
In Naikap, a Toyota car (registration number BA 2836) was found torched near the office of Sipradi Trading. Similarly, in Maharajgunj, a Maruti van (registration number Ba.7 Cha 1401) was discovered burned near the Capital Petrol Pump.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the Maruti van was found set on fire near the petrol pump in Maharajgunj. He said leaflets associated with a group linked to medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai were recovered from the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities suspect that a group attempting to disrupt the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 may be behind the arson attacks.
