The Government of Nepal has announced that the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted a general pardon to 267 Nepali nationals held in prisons there. The pardon was granted on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th National Day (Eid Al Etihad).
The Government of Nepal has welcomed the move, describing it as a symbol of the strong relations, goodwill, and mutual understanding between Nepal and the UAE, and has appreciated the UAE government’s friendly and humanitarian gesture.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision was taken by the UAE government in response to repeated requests made by the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, following directives from the ministry.
The pardoned Nepali citizens will be able to return home after completing the necessary legal procedures in accordance with UAE law, provided there are no other pending legal cases or restrictions against them.
