The vote counting for the 11th General Convention of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has begun. After collecting the chips from the 80 voting machines used in the election, the counting process has started.
According to the latest update, incumbent Chairman KP Sharma Oli has received 156 votes, while his contender, Ishwar Pokharel, has secured 67 votes, as informed by UML’s Chief of the Publicity Department, Rajendra Gautam.
In the vice-chairperson race, Bishnu Prasad Paudel leads with 173 votes, followed closely by Prithvi Subba Gurung with 171 votes. Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal has 153 votes, Gokarna Bista 133, Raghuji Pant 123, Guru Prasad Baral 109, Binda Pandey 98, Pashuram Meghi Gurung 47, Tank Prasad Karki 43, Arun Nepal 38, and Bhim Prasad Acharya 27 votes.
Dr. Vijay Subba, Chairman of the UML Central Election Commission, stated that the complete election results will be announced within the next two hours. Regular updates will be provided as the counting progresses.
A total of 642 candidates were contesting in the UML convention. Out of 2,263 eligible voters, 2,227 participated in the election, while 36 representatives were absent.
