CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that during the GenZ movement in Nepal, children of political leaders and businesspersons were unfairly targeted and labeled as “nepo babies.” Speaking at a tea reception organized by UML in Chyasal on Saturday, Oli said such behavior has emotionally affected young people.
“Is this a civilized society or a crowd of the uncivilized?” Oli questioned. “This is not just a small issue. Branding someone as a ‘nepo baby’ is a brutal attack on young minds. They fear going to school, thinking they might get bullied or beaten for being called a nepo baby.”
Indirectly referring to former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Oli said she should not be labeled based on others’ assumptions. “She was raised with love, and yet she is called a nepo baby. She is a decent-looking, well-educated girl and not the daughter of some rich parents,” he said, adding, “This was unexpected for her.”
