Voting under the CPN-UML national convention, which began on Wednesday morning, will continue throughout the night.
By 5:00 pm on Wednesday, only 802 delegates had cast their votes out of a total of 2,262 convention representatives.
Deputy Chair of the UML Election Commission, Sanuraja Pokharel, said the voting process is taking longer because delegates are not familiar with the electronic voting machines. Speaking at a press conference, he said voters also needed extra time as they had to cast ballots by checking long name lists.
According to Pokharel, it has taken up to two hours for a single voter to complete the voting process.
