Kathmandu — The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has decided to launch both legal and political protests against the arrest of its chairman and former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
A Secretariat meeting held today resolved to demand Oli’s immediate release while strongly opposing the arrest through coordinated actions.
According to party secretary Mahesh Basnet, the UML will also initiate dialogue and cooperation with other political parties that support democracy and the rule of law, as well as with civil society and the general public.
The meeting further announced a series of protest programs. UML has called for demonstrations by its sister organizations at district headquarters across the country today at 3:00 PM.
Additionally, on Chaitra 15 at 12:00 PM, district party committees will organize mass protests and submit memorandums to the Chief District Officer’s offices in all districts.
