The CPN-UML, which has been advocating for the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, has filed a petition at the Supreme Court two and a half months after the dissolution. According to the Supreme Court administration, the hearing for the petition has been scheduled for Mangsir 17.
The petition, submitted by UML leader Mahesh Bartola on Tuesday, was officially registered today (Wednesday). After the Gen-Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24, the interim government had submitted a proposal to dissolve the House of Representatives to the President. President Ram Chandra Paudel approved Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s proposal to dissolve the Parliament on Bhadra 27.
The interim government has already announced that the election for the House of Representatives will be held on Falgun 21. Prior to this, 17 petitions demanding the reinstatement of Parliament had already been registered at the Supreme Court. On Kartik 12, the court held a preliminary hearing on 16 petitions related to the dissolution and issued a show-cause order.
