Kathmandu — Leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and former Home Minister Khagaraj Adhikari has strongly condemned the arrest of party chairman and former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, calling it “illegal and driven by revenge.”
Speaking to journalists, Adhikari demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Oli, stating that the government’s action goes against the spirit of the Constitution and the rule of law. He also raised serious concerns about the arrest procedure.
Adhikari said that although the arrest was claimed to be based on a recommendation from an investigation commission, it was carried out overnight without clear charges or due legal process, exposing what he described as the government’s retaliatory intent.
He further stated that the UML is prepared to protest the move through both legal and street-level actions. Adhikari also urged the government to lead the country toward consensus and cooperation rather than conflict.
