CPN-UML leader Sher Bahadur Tamang has announced that he will contest for the post of Deputy General Secretary at the party’s 11th General Convention. Currently a Standing Committee member, Tamang has declared his support for Chairman KP Sharma Oli and will file his candidacy accordingly.
In an SMS sent to close associates on Thursday, Tamang wrote, “I will strongly contest for the Deputy General Secretary position while supporting KP Oli for Chairman. I sincerely expect your support and suggestions. Our solidarity will always remain.”
The UML General Convention, scheduled to begin on Mangsir 27, will see a leadership contest between KP Sharma Oli and Ishwar Pokharel for the party chairmanship. As the competition intensifies, several leaders have begun publicly aligning themselves with either Oli or Pokharel.
