CPN (UML) Politburo member Mahesh Basnet has said that anarchy is being spread across the country in the name of Gen-Z.
Speaking after two youths attempted to throw red ink at the vehicle he was traveling in at Biratnagar on Sunday, Basnet claimed that the incident had no involvement of the real Gen-Z movement, but rather activities carried out under its cover.
He said:
“Anarchy is being spread in the name of Gen-Z. The original Gen-Z has no role in this. Under the cover of Gen-Z, anarchic activities are increasing across the country, and whatever is being attempted through this is not good.”
Basnet stressed that everyone must respect the democratic system and that the government must protect democratic processes. He, however, praised the police for their effective role and cooperation in today’s incident.
Basnet was on his way to Itahari to participate in the provincial-level awakening assembly of the National Youth Association. As he exited Biratnagar Airport toward the program venue, two youths tried to throw ink at him. Police have taken both individuals into custody.
