CPN-UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet has claimed that no one can defeat party chair KP Sharma Oli in Jhapa. Basnet made the statement through a Facebook post on Saturday.
“It seems some individuals are trying to defeat KP Oli in the upcoming election,” Basnet wrote, “but their efforts will amount to nothing. It’s like dreaming of eating ghee with imaginary laddus!”
Citing the final vote count of the 2022 House of Representatives election in Jhapa-5, Basnet said that Oli’s victory with a historic margin is proof enough of his strong position.
“He secured 52,319 votes, defeating Nepali Congress candidate Khagendra Adhikari, who received only 23,743 votes,” Basnet added.
Basnet further said the result was not a coincidence. “It is clear evidence of the people of Jhapa having deep trust in Oli’s leadership for development, stability, and nation-building,” he stated.
