The Nepal Communist Party (UML) has decided to approach the Supreme Court demanding the reinstatement of the dissolved parliament.
In a meeting held on Tuesday, the dissolved parliamentary party granted formal authority to former Chief Whip Mahesh Bartula and Whip Sunita Baral to file the case in the Supreme Court.
Leader Bartula informed that discussions are ongoing with legal experts and that necessary documents are being prepared today and tomorrow, with the Supreme Court petition expected to be submitted on Sunday.
Additionally, the UML has called on all political parties, civil society, and professionals from all sectors to stand against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Following the Gen-Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24, which led to the fall of the KP Oli-led government, Prime Minister Sushila Karki recommended to the President the dissolution of parliament and announced elections for Falgun 21. The UML has now decided to formally challenge the dissolution in court.
