The Nepal Communist Party (UML) plans to submit memorandums to all 77 District Administration Offices today, demanding the release of its chairman, KP Sharma Oli. The party has stated that protest programs against Oli’s arrest will continue today as well.
According to UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet, the program is scheduled for 12 PM today, where the memorandum will be submitted to the Chief District Officer along with demonstrations.
The decision comes after police arrested Chairman Oli from his residence yesterday, following the inquiry commission led by Gauribahadur Karki that found him guilty. In response, the UML Secretariat decided to submit memorandums demanding his release.
The UML has described the arrests of Oli and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak as “illegal” and biased, and plans to challenge them both politically and legally.
