Nepal Communist Party (UML) Vice Chair Pradeep Gyawali has said that the party’s upcoming general convention scheduled for Mangsir will decide the party leadership.
Speaking at a greetings exchange and tea reception program organized by the UML Bhaktapur District Committee today, Gyawali said that the convention will be held on the scheduled date and that it will make the final decision regarding the leadership.
Referring to the recently concluded three-day Central Committee meeting, Gyawali said that there had been extensive discussions about the party’s internal matters. He added that the date for the convention was fixed after questions were raised about the current leadership.
“In the meeting, when some friends raised questions about the leadership, those questions could not remain unanswered,” he said. “Since the party’s sovereignty lies within the party cadres, it was decided to go to the general convention. Now, whatever the convention decides—whom to bring into leadership and which policy to adopt—we will move forward accordingly.”
During the program, UML Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, Nepali Congress Bhaktapur President Durlabh Thapa, UML Bhaktapur District Chairman Bachan Deuja, and UML District Vice Chair and Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa, among others, stressed the need for an impartial investigation into the incidents that took place during the ‘Gen-Z’ movement.
