The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged a restriction on vehicular movement along river and stream corridor roads in the Kathmandu Valley from 6:00 PM today until 6:00 AM tomorrow.
In a notice issued today, the Authority stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is occurring in the Valley as well as in several other parts of the country. It requested the District Administration Offices of all three districts in Kathmandu Valley to implement the restriction.
The Authority further warned that rainfall is likely to intensify tonight, causing water levels in rivers and streams to rise. This could lead to flooding of corridor roads and increase risks, and therefore, residents have been urged to remain cautious.
The notice reads: “To minimize possible risks, vehicular movement along the river and stream corridor roads in Kathmandu Valley will be restricted, as decided, from 6:00 PM today until 6:00 AM tomorrow.”
