Veteran folk singer and artist Kamal BK Nirmohi passed away on Tuesday evening after a prolonged battle with kidney disease.
Nirmohi, who had been undergoing regular dialysis after both of his kidneys failed, died during the course of treatment. Born in the then Phulbari VDC of Dang, he had been residing in Nepalgunj.
According to family sources, he was admitted to the ICU of Bheri Hospital on Saturday after suddenly losing consciousness. As his condition did not improve, he was placed on a ventilator on Monday. He was brought back home from the hospital on Tuesday, where he breathed his last at around 5:00 pm.
His wife, Heram Devi BK, who was also suffering from kidney disease, had passed away on Magh 23.
The family has informed that the final rites of the late singer will be performed on Wednesday afternoon at Sidhania Ghat on the Rapti River.
