Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has expressed his best wishes on the occasion of Chhath Festival 2082, hoping that the festival will inspire Nepalis with a strong sense of nationalism.
In his message, he stated, “May the Chhath festival strengthen the bond of national unity and integrity, and bind all Nepalis together in harmony, love, and reconciliation. I sincerely wish that this festival motivates the people of our nation with a deep sense of patriotism to move the country toward prosperity and progress.”
Vice President Yadav described Chhath as a festival symbolizing deep faith and love for nature. He highlighted the traditional rituals such as Nahai Khai, Kharna, offering Arghya to the setting and rising Sun, and stressed that passing these traditions on to the younger generation is a positive cultural practice.
He added that the festival encourages people to abandon negative thoughts, behavior, and actions.
The message further reads, “Worshipping the setting and rising Sun is the unique feature of this festival. Devotion to the Sun—giver of energy and life to the Earth—and to Chhathi Maiya—protector of family health—teaches us to remain grateful to the sources of life.”
He also highlighted the purity and devotion demonstrated by worshippers who observe a strict waterless fast and stand in rivers, ponds, and lakes to offer Arghya, noting that this fosters purity in thoughts, speech, and actions.
