Vote counting for the Bihar Assembly elections has begun. Indian media reports that the counting started at 8 AM. Ahead of the counting, tensions escalated between the ruling NDA alliance and the opposition bloc, with both sides leveling accusations against each other.
This time, the JD(U) and BJP have been allotted an equal share of 101 seats each under their seat-sharing arrangement. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed concerns over possible irregularities during the counting process and urged the Election Commission to ensure complete impartiality.
According to The Indian Express, an FIR has been filed against RJD leader Sunil Kumar for making an inflammatory statement on the eve of the vote count. Strict security arrangements have been made at 46 counting centers across 38 districts of Bihar.
The first phase of polling in Bihar was held on November 5 and the second phase on November 10. Bihar has a total of 74.5 million voters, and 2,016 candidates are contesting for 243 assembly seats.
