The voter education program has started nationwide from today (Sunday) for the House of Representatives election.
According to the Election Education and Voter Education Directive, 2078, a special voter education program approved for the House of Representatives member election has come into effect from today, and the program is being implemented accordingly.
The Election Commission of Nepal stated that the program aims to inform citizens about the importance of voting rights and the voting process, and it will move forward as per the approved special plan.
The program that began today will run until Falgun 17 across 6,743 wards in all 753 local levels of the country. For this, one voter education volunteer will be mobilized in each ward.
According to the Commission, the deployed volunteers will reach voters’ communities and homes and use sample ballot papers to inform them about the importance of elections and the voting procedures.
It is believed that effective voter education will play an important role in increasing voter participation in elections and reducing the proportion of invalid votes.
For cooperation, coordination, and facilitation of this work, the Commission has requested support from all seven provincial governments, local levels, political parties participating in the election, candidates, media, and all stakeholders, informed Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
