The collection of the voter list, which had been suspended for the House of Representatives elections, resumes from today.
The Election Commission Nepal had halted voter registration from Mangsir 6 citing the upcoming elections. A meeting of the Commission held on Chaitra 18 decided to restart the voter list collection process.
According to Commission Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the previously suspended program will now be reactivated. Nepali citizens who have obtained a National Identity Card number can register their names in the voter list through the online system using their National ID details.
Those who are not yet enrolled in the National Identity Card system must fill out an online form through the Commission’s ‘Pre-Enrollment’ system. They will then be required to be physically present at the provincial or district election office to submit their biometric details, including photographs and fingerprints.
The Commission has also arranged for online applications to correct errors in the voter list, remove duplicate names, and update records related to death or migration.
Voters can correct their name, address, and other personal details as per their citizenship certificate. If there are multiple polling centers within the same ward, voters can request to transfer their registration to a more convenient location.
The Commission has urged citizens to actively participate in the voter registration and update process.
