
Gagandev Rai Yadav, the ward chair of Boudhimai Municipality–6, Rautahat, has died after sustaining injuries from an electric shock. According to Rautahat District Police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Raju Karki, Yadav was injured around 7:15 PM on Sunday and passed away during treatment at 8:15 PM.
The police reported that while heading to his field, Yadav came into contact with an 11,000-volt live wire that had fallen to the ground, resulting in severe electric shock. He was initially treated at Ghorahimai Hospital in Kopawa and later transferred to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur for further treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead after an ECG.
Yadav was elected as ward chair in the 2079 local elections representing CPN (Unified Socialist). Earlier, in 2068, he had been acquitted in a culpable homicide case by the District Court of Gaur. However, four to five months after his election, he was suspended by the order of the High Court Janakpur, temporary bench in Birgunj. Since then, ward members Arjun Yadav and Usha Yadav had been alternately serving as acting ward chairs for six months each, according to Mayor Pradeep Yadav.
