A 36-year-old woman has died from scrub typhus in Chitwan. She was undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital and hailed from Bardghat Municipality–13.
According to hospital spokesperson Dr. Ram Prasad Sapkota, the woman was admitted on Bhadra 4 and was also suffering from a parasitic disease.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Rupakheti, head of the District Public Health Office, reported that among patients seeking treatment at various hospitals in the district, 73 have tested positive for scrub typhus. Of these, 58 are from Chitwan. Out of 1,530 people tested, infection was confirmed in 73 individuals.
