Butwal, Rupandehi
In a landmark move for Nepal’s growing information technology sector, WordCamp Nepal 2026 is set to be organized for the first time outside the capital city, signaling a major shift in how national-level technology events are distributed across the country. The two-day international conference will take place on January 23 and 24, 2026 (Magh 9 and 10, 2082 BS) at Bishram Batika, Manigram, in Tilottama Municipality–5, Rupandehi.
The event centered on the world’s most widely used website-building platform, WordPress is expected to attract IT professionals, software developers, students, content creators, entrepreneurs, and digital marketing specialists from across Nepal as well as from abroad.
Until now, WordCamp Nepal had been consistently limited to Kathmandu since its inception more than a decade ago. The decision to host the 2026 edition in Lumbini Province reflects a growing momentum to decentralize technology opportunities and encourage digital development in regional hubs.

Why Rupandehi Was Chosen
Rupandehi has rapidly emerged as a strategic center for commerce, education, and tourism. With the presence of Gautam Buddha International Airport, proximity to the Buddhist heritage site Lumbini, and its location near the India – Nepal border, the district offers both logistical and global connectivity advantages.
Organizers believe the conference will support the concept of “Tech Tourism”, blending technology, culture, and travel into one platform while promoting Lumbini Province as a destination for international events.
