Following government directives, internet service provider WorldLink has blocked social media platforms that are not registered in Nepal.
In a notice issued Friday morning, WorldLink stated that the action was taken as per instructions from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
The notice read: “The Nepal Telecommunications Authority, in accordance with the respected Supreme Court’s order, decisions of the Cabinet, and the Social Media Use Directive 2080, has instructed our company to regulate social media platforms not registered in Nepal. Accordingly, social media platforms not registered in Nepal can no longer be accessed via WorldLink’s internet services.”
WorldLink has apologized for any inconvenience caused to its users.
