Young entrepreneur Sachin Dhakal has decided to withdraw his name from the proportional representation candidate list of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA).
Sachin is the son of Chandra Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the IME Group. He was listed second in the Khas Arya male cluster on RASWPA’s proportional representation list. He stated that he withdrew his name out of respect for the spirit and principles of Nepal’s proportional representation electoral system.
Dhakal expressed, “I am grateful to the party leadership for including me on the proportional representation list, recognizing the role of youth in promoting entrepreneurship, social transformation, and national development. However, respecting the essence and principles of the proportional representation system enshrined in Nepal’s Constitution, I have decided to withdraw my name from this list for personal reasons.”
He emphasized that social transformation is possible through entrepreneurship rather than political positions or power and pledged that he remains ready to assume any political responsibility for the benefit of the nation and society if needed in the future.
Dhakal, who is also the chairman of Nepal Super League team “FC Chitwan,” remains active in the fields of Nepalese economy, sports, tourism, and youth employment. He highlighted the urgent need to address the harsh reality that over 500,000 young Nepalis annually seek employment abroad.
“I am striving to apply the education and knowledge I have acquired personally, not just the opportunities provided by my family background,” he said. “Rather than following tradition, my goal is to set an example for Nepali youth through innovation and challenging work.”
He added that being born into a business family while actively contributing to national development is a positive combination, and expressed confidence that opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship can be created within Nepal itself.
