Young men and women staged a demonstration at Maiti Ghar, Kathmandu, expressing frustration over the delay in going to South Korea despite passing the language and skill tests under the Employment Permit System (EPS).
The protesters, who have been on the roster for over a year after clearing the language test for sectors such as agriculture and fisheries, complained that they have not yet been selected by employers. They called the current rule—removal from the roster if not selected within two years—unfair and demanded an extension of the roster period by an additional two years.
Demonstrators held placards and raised slogans such as “Stop EPS exploitation,” “Send the passers to Korea immediately,” and “Extend the two-year period.”
