Coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has said that Rukum East is the foundation of the republic and that a new chapter of prosperity and socialism has begun from this very land.
Speaking directly with voters in Rukum East, Prachanda pledged to prioritize the district’s development. He said Rukum East is not a neglected district but should be developed as a national model, adding that he took responsibility for this vision and therefore decided to contest the election from here.
Emphasizing infrastructure as the top priority, Prachanda said development is impossible without roads, hospitals, and employment. He stressed the expansion of basic infrastructure in Rukum East and said his leadership would focus on ending unemployment and creating job opportunities alongside infrastructure development.
“Bringing Rukum East to the number one position on the development map is my responsibility,” he said, adding that the district’s voice would also come first in national policy-making.
Reaffirming his commitment to work in line with public expectations, Prachanda said, “We will not let the sacrifices made by the people for change go in vain. Rukum East will be turned into a district of opportunities. The time has come to sow the seeds of prosperity in the soil of sacrifice.” He added, “I am not here just to make speeches; I am here to deliver visible results,” and stressed that he believes in showing results through action, not promises.
During his campaign, Prachanda visited settlements in areas including Sisne, Bhume, and Putha Uttarganga, where locals shared their expectations for district development. Residents highlighted the need for improvements in roads, healthcare, education, and employment. Voters said that as a Himalayan and relatively new district, Rukum East requires rapid development.
A local from Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality–12 said effective planning is essential for the district’s development, stressing the need for basic infrastructure expansion, job creation, and better public services. Another local from Bhume Rural Municipality–6 said development work must be prioritized, noting that expected changes after the republic have not yet fully reached villages and that concrete action is now necessary.
According to district coordinator Kumari Baral Gautam, Prachanda has been traveling village to village, engaging directly with voters through meetings and public gatherings as part of his campaign. The Nepal Communist Party’s Rukum East committee told Kendrabindu that there is a strong public wave in favor of Prachanda in the district.
