The Nepal Communist Party (UML) Dang has strongly protested the antisocial and non-political activities allegedly carried out by the Nepal Samyukta Party (NSP) in the Tulsipur market area.
The objection follows an incident on the night of Falgun 7, when a UML flag marked with the party’s “Surya” symbol was reportedly set on fire in Tulsipur market. The UML Dang district office issued a statement condemning the act, calling it a serious violation of democratic values and an affront to the political rights earned through the sacrifices of the people.
The statement, issued by UML Dang President Shivkumar Acharya, emphasized, “Burning the flag or election symbol of any party or independent candidate during the election period violates the code of conduct and promotes anarchic tendencies.”
The party urged legal action against the NSP activists and leaders involved and highlighted that such acts weaken democratic values, tolerance, and political culture. It stressed that all political parties are responsible for strengthening democracy, national unity, peace, and security and must refrain from indecent activities. UML also called on all political forces to respect the freedom, equality, and tolerance established by the Constitution and the sacrifices of the citizens.
Meanwhile, the NSP has claimed that their party workers were not involved and that the flag was set on fire by intruders. Following widespread criticism on social media, NSP Chairperson Vinay Ghimire issued a statement asserting that media reports about the incident were based on misinformation and not factual.
