The Election Commission Nepal has concluded its nationwide voter education program aimed at informing citizens about the importance of elections, the voting process, and reducing invalid votes.
The Commission conducted the program simultaneously in all 6,743 wards across the country. According to the approved schedule, the voter education campaign, which began on Falgun 3, has now been completed in all wards of the 753 local levels nationwide as of Sunday. Voter education volunteers were mobilized in each ward to carry out the program.
Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar stated that the program was successfully completed in a grand manner due to the dedication of sincere volunteers who were able to reach households and engage directly with the general public. She praised the contribution of Female Community Health Volunteers and noted that the targeted initiative achieved its objectives.
Since the 2022 general elections, the responsibility of providing voter education has been assigned to health volunteers. This time as well, they were entrusted with the task.
According to the Commission, volunteers visited communities and households to educate voters about the significance of elections and the voting procedure using sample ballot papers. For monitoring purposes, the Commission appointed previously designated local contact persons as observers and provided them with orientation. After completing the program, volunteers are required to submit their reports to the Commission.
