Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to collaborate with the Nepal Police to strengthen road safety and urban security in the capital.
A meeting was held on Thursday between Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol and Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki. According to the metropolitan office, the discussion focused on enhancing coordination to improve road conditions, urban security, and overall urban management within Kathmandu.
Acting Mayor Dangol expressed the city’s interest in working closely with Nepal Police on issues such as road safety and traffic management, protection and proper use of encroached public land, management of unplanned settlements, urban management, and the campaign to make the city free of street dwellers.
During the meeting, IGP Karki assured that Nepal Police is ready to provide the necessary security support required by the metropolitan city. He said that coordination for the city’s initiatives will be facilitated through the Valley Police Office, and that focal persons have already been designated for this purpose.
