The second week of Falgun this year has become a special period for the general public, marked by both festival celebrations and the upcoming election. With a week-long public holiday beginning today, a distinct wave of excitement has spread across the country.
The government has declared public holidays on Falgun 18 and 19 for the festival of colors, Holi. This will be followed by special holidays on Falgun 20, 21, and 22 for the House of Representatives election. Likewise, Falgun 23 falls on a regular Saturday holiday, and Falgun 24 marks International Women’s Day. As a result, government offices, banks and financial institutions, and educational institutions will remain closed for seven consecutive days.
Due to the extended holiday and the upcoming election, there has been a significant increase in the number of people leaving the federal capital, Kathmandu, for their hometowns and other destinations.
