Former CPN-UML lawmaker Basudev Ghimire has announced that he has left the party.
Making the announcement through social media, Ghimire said that the main leadership of the old political parties has failed to address the wishes and aspirations of the general public, and therefore he has decided to step away from his responsibilities within the UML.
In his statement, he wrote that the current aspirations of the people include good governance, development, and prosperity, as well as leadership transfer, generational change, and transformation. He said that addressing the needs of the country, the course of history, and the expectations of citizens is the main responsibility at present, and that unwavering commitment to the nation, good governance, development, and prosperity are essential conditions of politics. As the main leadership of traditional political parties has not been able to respond to the desires and expectations of the people, he stated that he has separated himself from the responsibilities of the party he was associated with effective from today.
Ghimire also said that he will continue to work with honesty and integrity in campaigns aimed at taking the country forward on a path of good governance, development, employment, and prosperity.
