Chairperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rajendra Lingden, has said that the RPP can be made the leading political force in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a party unification program held at the party office on Tuesday, Lingden stated that if the RPP is advanced as the first decisive force, it would be possible to end corruption and establish good governance. He expressed commitment to these goals.
He said that although it may seem difficult in general, it is not impossible as nationalist forces are coming together. Lingden noted that the pace of people joining and merging into the RPP has been increasing rapidly.
He claimed that since the political change of 2006–07 (2062–2063 BS), the issue of monarchy that the party has been carrying has now reached its most popular phase.
Lingden said, “Except for the 1994 (2051 BS) election, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party went to elections divided into two or sometimes three factions. For the first time, RPP is going to the election as a single, unified party. The process of merging into RPP is accelerating. Since the political change of 2006–07, the agenda of monarchy we have carried has become the most popular.”
Chairman Lingden also said that he wishes to see the restoration of monarchy and a Hindu state while he is still serving as party chair. He added that he would remain committed to the cause of restoring the monarchy in the days ahead.
He urged party members and supporters to work toward making the RPP the largest party in the upcoming elections. Lingden also said that those who believe the country needs a monarchy to play a guardian role and who demand the abolition of federalism should unite.
