Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav, who had announced that he would seek a vote of confidence today (Wednesday), did not attend the scheduled Provincial Assembly meeting.
On Tuesday evening, CM Yadav held a press conference stating that he would face the vote of confidence today and expressed full confidence that he would secure the required votes. He claimed that discussions with various parties had been positive and that he had no doubt about winning the vote.
However, despite the plan, Yadav remained absent from the Provincial Assembly session.
The meeting, initially scheduled for 8:30 AM, began at 10:30 AM. Due to the Chief Minister’s absence, the assembly meeting was postponed until 2 PM. Since the proposer of the motion was not present, Deputy Speaker Babita Kumari Raut Iser announced the postponement.
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court had issued an order directing Chief Minister Yadav to obtain a vote of confidence within 24 hours. Yadav is reportedly making intense efforts to secure the necessary support.
