Nepal’s para taekwondo athlete Renu Tamang will represent the country at the Asian Youth Para Games, scheduled to be held in Dubai, UAE, from Mangsir 21 to 28.

Renu, who has been undergoing special training under the Mission–2026 program run by the National Sports Council, will compete in the K-44 category under the 47 kg weight group. International Level 2 coach Kabiraj Negi Lama will serve as her trainer. The Nepalese team is set to depart for Dubai on Monday night, and Renu will compete on Mangsir 26 (Friday).

The Nepalese team was seen off by officials of the Nepal Taekwondo Association, including Vice President and NSC Executive Committee member Bhanbahadur Chand, along with Secretary Hemant Dangi, central members Prem Bhandari, Suresh Manandhar, and senior coach Suman Ghale.

Renu previously participated in the 10th Asian Para Taekwondo Championship in Malaysia and recently won a gold medal at the 13th Korean Ambassador International Taekwondo Championship.

Under coach Negi’s training, Nepal has achieved 12 international medals—3 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze. At the 2021 Asian Youth Para Games in Bahrain, Nepalese athletes Palesha Gorwadhan (gold), Sirjana Ghising (silver), and Vishal Garbuj (bronze) won medals, marking a historic achievement for Nepal in para sports.
