17

On the occasion of the 41st SAARC Charter Day, Prime Minister Sushila Karki conveyed her best wishes to the governments and people of all SAARC member nations. She emphasized that by standing united for common goals, the region can effectively address shared challenges, safeguard mutual interests, and fulfill the aspirations of its people.

Recalling the vision behind SAARC’s establishment, PM Karki noted:
“Nearly four decades ago, our founding leaders envisioned a peaceful, stable, and collectively prosperous South Asia. Their unified foresight gave birth to SAARC—a platform designed to promote regional cooperation, strengthen bonds of friendship, and enhance the well-being of our peoples.”

She highlighted that over the years, SAARC has evolved into an important platform for enhancing mutual understanding, building trust, and advancing initiatives aimed at improving living standards across the region.

According to her message, the SAARC Charter continues to guide efforts to deepen collective self-reliance and foster a shared regional identity while confronting today’s major challenges—including food and energy security, climate change, digital divide, and poverty reduction.
