Sri Lanka registered a dominant 8-wicket victory over Australia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Chasing a target of 182 runs set by Australia, Sri Lanka comfortably reached the target in 18 overs, losing just two wickets. Pathum Nissanka starred in the chase with an unbeaten 100 runs, while Kusal Mendis contributed a solid 51.
Earlier on Monday night, Australia, batting first, were bowled out for 181 runs in 20 overs. With this victory, Sri Lanka have secured three wins from three matches, earning six points and confirming their place in the Super Eight stage.
Meanwhile, Australia’s chances of advancing have taken a major hit following their second consecutive defeat. Australia could be eliminated in the group stage if Zimbabwe defeat Ireland on Tuesday.
Australia are scheduled to play their final group-stage match against Oman on Friday.
